Urban Inspired Perspectives on Politics

Recently, US Congress and President Obama were not able to come up with a mutual agreement to avoid falling off the "fiscal cliff."  However, the timeliness of the occasion couldn't have come at a better orchestrated time since the markets had already closed and would not re-open until after a likely agreement to the final deal would be passed by both the House and the Senate.

The fact that in this country we have come face-to-face with such a big financial impasse is indicative of a larger issue.  Perpetual borrowing, out-of-control spending, excessive taxation on the poor, self-serving leadership, and lack of unity or agreement has the appearance of government run-a-muck, like that of lascivious leadership in early Rome or slave craved Egypt.

The impact of going over the "fiscal cliff" will most likely affect the poorest families in urban communities, therefore, those of us in these communities need to be the most vocal and proactive to ensure that the Representatives we put in Washington have our best interests in mind and not party politics.

Lastly, we should be continually lifting our government and politicians in prayer.  We have more power than we realize.  Our perspective is vital to this country's growth and prosperity.  In order for them to realize it, we have to first realize it.
